There is no doubt that cornoavirus and the various stay-at-home orders that have come along with it have created a lot of stress, and kids are feeling that stress as well. This site from Save the Children offers six different methods for helping kids deal with the stress of coronavirus including:
- Flower and Candle
- Lemon
- Lazy Cat
- Feather/Statue
- Stress Balls
- Turtle
These are all great forms of progressive relaxation. I would encourage you to try all of them with your children and see which one(s) they react to the best.
My personal favorite is Lemon. Here are the instructions for that technique:

Reach up to the tree and pick a lemon with each hand.

Squeeze the lemons hard to get all the juice out – squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.

Throw the lemons on the floor and relax your hands.

Then repeat, until you have enough juice for a glass of lemonade!

After your last squeeze and throw, shake out your hands to relax!
